MRI of Male External Genitals

MRI of the external male genital organs is a high-precision diagnostic method that allows early detection of cancers, inflammatory diseases and structural abnormalities. Three-dimensional layered imaging makes it possible to visualize even subtle tissue changes long before symptoms appear. In our clinic, the examination is performed on a high-field MRI scanner, ensuring maximum detail and diagnostic accuracy.

What Is MRI Used For?

The primary purpose of MRI is to detect malignant tumors at the earliest possible stage. However, the method is also effective for diagnosing:

  • testicular torsion;
  • inflammatory diseases;
  • hydrocele;
  • Peyronie's disease;
  • hematomas;
  • cysts and benign tumors;
  • parasitic infections;
  • vascular abnormalities;
  • atrophic changes.

Indications for MRI

  • scrotal enlargement;
  • palpable mass in the testicle;
  • pain, swelling or redness of the scrotum;
  • blood in urine or semen;
  • penile curvature;
  • erectile dysfunction or rapid ejaculation;
  • pain in the lower abdomen, fever;
  • difficult or painful urination;
  • suspected trauma or tumor process.

MRI is also used to determine the stage of cancer and to evaluate treatment effectiveness.

How Is the Examination Performed?

The patient lies on the MRI table on his back. All metal objects must be removed. The procedure is painless but requires complete stillness. Average duration — 40–50 minutes. If contrast enhancement is needed, a gadolinium-based agent is administered to improve visualization of small lesions.
