Ultrasound of the Prostate Gland
Prostate ultrasound is a modern, safe and highly informative diagnostic method that allows physicians to evaluate the structure, size and condition of the prostate gland. The procedure is completely painless, non-invasive and suitable for men of all ages. In our clinic, we use advanced ultrasound equipment that provides detailed and precise imaging, allowing early detection of prostate diseases.
Why the Examination Is Performed
Ultrasound helps assess prostate size, detect inflammatory processes, benign enlargement, prostate cancer and structural abnormalities. The method allows identification of tumors, cysts, suppurative processes and obstruction of urinary pathways.
Indications for Prostate Ultrasound
- lower abdominal or perineal pain;
- weak or intermittent urine stream;
- difficulty urinating or incomplete bladder emptying;
- blood or pus in urine;
- frequent urination, especially at night;
- changes in semen quality or visible impurities;
- erectile dysfunction;
- infertility issues;
- abnormal digital rectal exam results.
Men over 40 are advised to undergo annual prostate screening due to increased risk of benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer.
How the Examination Is Performed
Two methods are used: transabdominal (through the abdominal wall) and transrectal (through the rectum). The transrectal method provides the most precise and detailed image.
The procedure lasts 20–30 minutes, does not affect sexual function and has no side effects. Results are available immediately after the examination.
