Breast Ultrasound

Breast ultrasound is a safe, painless and highly informative diagnostic method used to detect structural changes, inflammation, cysts and tumors in breast tissue. It plays a key role in early detection of breast cancer and other breast diseases. In our clinic, examinations are performed using modern high-resolution ultrasound systems operated by experienced specialists, ensuring maximum diagnostic accuracy.

What Breast Ultrasound Detects

  • benign and malignant tumors;
  • cysts and fibrocystic changes;
  • inflammation (mastitis, lactostasis);
  • gynecomastia in men;
  • enlarged lymph nodes;
  • changes in breast structure and ducts.

Ultrasound makes it possible to evaluate the size, borders, density and internal structure of masses, helping to differentiate malignant from benign processes.

Indications for Breast Ultrasound

  • breast pain or discomfort;
  • palpable lumps or areas of thickening;
  • nipple discharge (including bloody or purulent);
  • changes in nipple shape (inversion, deformation);
  • peeling or changes in breast skin;
  • swelling or visible asymmetry;
  • enlarged axillary lymph nodes;
  • dimpling of breast skin when raising arms.

Breast ultrasound is also performed before surgery to reduce risks and improve treatment planning.

How the Examination Is Performed

The patient lies on a comfortable couch while a physician applies a conductive gel to the breast area for optimal visualization. In some cases, the patient is examined in a seated position with arms raised.

The procedure lasts about 30 minutes. The results are prepared within 10–15 minutes.
