Abdominal Ultrasound
Abdominal ultrasound is a non-invasive, safe and highly informative diagnostic method used to examine the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, kidneys and other abdominal organs. The procedure is painless and suitable for adults and children. At our clinic, ultrasound examinations are performed using modern high-resolution equipment, which ensures exceptional accuracy in detecting early pathological changes.
What Abdominal Ultrasound Detects
- gallstones and bile duct obstruction;
- fatty liver disease (hepatic steatosis);
- inflammatory processes in the pancreas, spleen and other organs;
- structural changes of the liver and biliary system;
- benign and malignant tumors;
- post-traumatic changes of abdominal organs;
- thickening of the gallbladder wall and functional disorders.
The examination allows doctors to evaluate the size, shape, structure and blood supply of abdominal organs, helping to diagnose diseases at early stages.
Indications for Abdominal Ultrasound
- pain of any type in the abdominal area;
- persistent constipation or chronic diarrhea;
- nausea and vomiting;
- bad breath unrelated to oral conditions;
- feeling of heaviness after meals;
- bloating and other gastrointestinal symptoms.
Ultrasound is also performed after abdominal trauma, before surgical procedures, and as guidance during biopsy for safe tissue sampling.
How the Examination Is Performed
The patient lies on a comfortable couch. Depending on the organ being examined, the doctor may ask the patient to turn onto the side or change position for better visualization.
The procedure lasts 20–30 minutes and does not cause discomfort. The results are ready immediately after the examination.
