MRI of the Lumbar Spine
MRI of the lumbar spine is a non-invasive, highly accurate method for visualizing vertebrae, intervertebral discs, nerve roots and surrounding tissues. Our clinic uses a modern high-resolution MRI scanner that detects early degenerative, inflammatory and traumatic changes.
What MRI of the Lumbar Spine Shows
- disc protrusions and herniations;
- inflammatory changes;
- spinal canal stenosis;
- malignant tumors and metastases;
- nerve root compression;
- osteochondrosis and osteoporosis;
- post-traumatic changes.
Indications
- persistent or acute lower back pain;
- lumbago (shooting pain);
- numbness or tingling in the legs;
- suspected inflammation or infection;
- trauma to the lower spine;
- urinary or bowel dysfunction;
- suspected tumor or metastases.
How the Procedure Is Performed
The scan lasts 20–30 minutes. No preparation is required, except removing metal items. The patient lies still on the MRI table while two-way communication with the technician is maintained throughout the procedure.
