MRI of the Hip Joints

MRI of the hip joints is a highly accurate, non-invasive diagnostic method that allows detailed assessment of bones, cartilage, ligaments, tendons, muscles, joint capsules, nerves, and blood vessels. The procedure is completely safe, involves no ionizing radiation, and provides high-resolution 3D imaging. Modern MRI scanners used in our clinic allow early detection of degenerative, inflammatory, traumatic, or oncological conditions.

What MRI of the Hip Joints Shows

  • inflammation and degenerative changes in the joint;
  • ligament tears, tendon injuries, and soft tissue damage;
  • hip dysplasia and congenital anomalies;
  • fractures, dislocations, and post-traumatic changes;
  • avascular necrosis;
  • cysts, benign and malignant tumors;
  • edema, joint effusion, synovitis;
  • nerve compression syndromes;
  • vascular abnormalities.

When MRI Is Recommended

  • acute hip pain during movement;
  • chronic pain of unclear origin;
  • limited mobility or stiffness;
  • swelling and inflammation around the joint;
  • suspicion of ligament rupture or muscle injury;
  • suspected oncological process;
  • assessment before surgery and post-operative monitoring.

How MRI of the Hip Is Performed

No special preparation is required. The patient removes metal objects and lies on the MRI table. Remaining still is essential for high-quality imaging. The procedure lasts 20–30 minutes and is completely painless. Two-way communication with the technician is maintained throughout the examination.
