MRA of Cerebral Arteries and Venous Sinuses
Magnetic resonance angiography of the cerebral arteries and venous sinuses is one of the most accurate and reliable diagnostic methods. It allows detailed visualization of large and medium vessels (arteries, veins, sinuses), as well as surrounding tissues. The technique detects abnormalities at early stages when treatment is most effective.
When Is the Study Recommended?
- frequent or intense headaches of unclear origin;
- dizziness;

- tinnitus;
- episodes of confusion or altered behavior;
- visual or hearing deterioration;
- difficulty concentrating;
- signs of increased intracranial pressure;
- history of head trauma.
What Can MRA Detect?
- vascular malformations (arteriovenous malformations, abnormal flow patterns);
- cerebral aneurysms;
- thrombosis of venous sinuses or veins;
- abnormal vessel development and anatomical variants;
- tumor-related changes or vascular invasion.
The method is valuable in early diagnostics of venous thrombosis, microcirculatory disorders and conditions associated with impaired outflow from the brain.
How the Procedure Is Performed
No preparation is needed. The patient must remove all metal objects and lie on the MRI table. Staying still is crucial for high-quality images. Communication with the radiology team is available through an intercom or emergency button.
The average duration is 30–60 minutes. The procedure is painless and requires no recovery time.
