MSCT Coronary Angiography
Multislice Computed Tomography (MSCT) coronary angiography is a highly informative, non-invasive diagnostic method used in cardiology to evaluate the coronary arteries. With contrast enhancement and high-speed CT scanning, the method provides detailed visualization of the vascular network of the myocardium, enabling early diagnosis of coronary artery disease and other cardiovascular abnormalities. Our clinic uses a state-of-the-art CT scanner and the latest low-allergen iodinated contrast agents, ensuring maximum safety and diagnostic accuracy.
Why MSCT Coronary Angiography Is Performed
MSCT of the coronary arteries allows precise assessment of:
- the condition and patency of coronary vessels;
- degree of stenosis and atherosclerotic plaque burden;
- early signs of ischemic heart disease (IHD);
- vascular anomalies and congenital defects;
- condition of bypass grafts and coronary stents;
- risk of acute cardiovascular complications.
The high resolution of MSCT enables detection of even minimal deviations, helping cardiologists choose the optimal treatment strategy and prevent complications.
Indications for MSCT Coronary Angiography
- suspected ischemic heart disease (chest pain, exertional dyspnea);
- acute chest pain with non-informative ECG;
- atypical angina symptoms;
- unclear or questionable results of stress tests;
- suspected coronary artery anomalies;
- evaluation before heart or vascular surgery;
- postoperative assessment of coronary stents or bypass grafts;
- patients with risk factors: obesity, hypertension, diabetes, smoking, age over 40, family history.
How MSCT Coronary Angiography Is Performed
No special preparation is required, but it is recommended to avoid coffee, vasodilators, and smoking before the procedure. A contrast agent is administered using an automatic injector.
The examination is painless. During scanning, the patient must lie still and hold their breath for 10–15 seconds when instructed. The high-speed scanner synchronizes with the heartbeat to ensure maximum image clarity.
